Do you know any tips on being a good actor for a high school play?

In my high school, there is this famous annual play that occurs called the Variety Show. I’ve heard that the play is extremely difficult to get a part in it, unless you are a very talented person. My mom constantly tells me that I will never make it because my older sister who tried out in the pass didn’t make it. I really want to show my mom that I could make it and get a part. I do not think the play is not untill a long time, and I want to improve my drama skills. I also really regretted no ttrying out for it last year because it sounds like alot of fun to be in it, although it may be stressful at times.

I’m only 14 and in 8th grade. I’m a boy. I’ve decided that acting is what I want to do with my life. I want to be in movies. My favorite actor is Shia Labeouf. What should I do to be an actor.
